The big coaxial helicopter anyone can fly.

With the Blade® CX4 helicopter, learning to fly is fun, not frustrating. The self-stabilizing characteristics of its coaxial, counter rotating blades make hovering easy. So easy in fact, you’ll look like a pro after just a few flights. Besides being incredibly stable, the CX4 is a little bigger than most coaxial helis in its class. It also comes with smart safety features that help you relax and fly with confidence. This includes things like a shock-absorbing landing gear and rubber-coated leading edges on the rotor blades. The rotor blades are also hinged at the hub so they will give in the event of a blade strike.

Counter-rotating rotor blades
First-time pilots will be able hover the Blade CX4 like a pro after just a few flights. Its counter-rotating rotor blades give it a natural stability that makes learning to fly easy. If you ever get in trouble, just let go of the control sticks. The Blade CX4 will return to a hover all by itself.

Hinged, rubber-coated rotor blades
The rubber-coated rotor blades are hinged at the hub so they give in the event of a blade strike.

Shock-absorbing landing gear
Soft mounts on the landing gear absorb shocks from hard landings.

E-flite CX-4
Overall fly ability indoors is good. Easy to control in a restricted environment without too many trim adjustments. If you fly this outdoors make sure wind currents are mild and don't take it up too high. I also prefer parking lots, driveways and larger indoor rooms where landings can be much more stable. If you fly this heli in grass fields, make sure the terrain is flat and the grass is short. St. Agustine grass is particularly hard on the upper and lower main rotor blades. This grass is tough and rugged can damage both sets of blades very easily. On the negative side, I would have liked to have seen a more powerful battery developed for this model. Five minutes of flying time is a little short to enjoy a good flight with this model and it tends to shut down very quickly after this time period. The newer more powerful 370 motors have no trouble getting this big co-axial off the ground and moving quickly in flight. They do however tend to use more battery power, hence the shorter flight times. Perhaps some you flyers have already found a more powerful battery that can fit into the battery compartment with little or no modification. If so, please let us know what works for you. Best, Don Bonomi
